First, the good skinnygs...

- The industrial design is actually gorgeous and rock-solid. The computer is skinny, gentle and pleasure to seem at.

- Screen is 13" however the resolution is comparable to that of most 15"+ computers. Perfectly usable for graphic/software development. While Macbook Air uses (supposedly) an inferior TN panel compared to Macbook Pro, I didn't find a drastic distinction between the 2 (I also own a 17" Macbook Pro). The Air has reasonably smaller viewing attitudes and possibly not as excellent colour copy, but the differences are delicate. Also, there may be a lot less glare on Air's "glossy" display compared to shiny Macbook Pro.

- Performance is great, in some cases it bests the Quad Core i7 17" Macbook Pro, thanks to its SSD Drive. Startups/shutdowns are tremendous fast and the applications open/close nearly immediately. Having said that, do no longer expect to do any serious gaming on this little man. The built-in Intel pics chip has onerous time handling even 5 year previous video sports and is if truth be told slower than nVidia chip on the previous technology Air.

- Expect to get about 4-5 hours of blended use out of "7 hour" battery. That's what I reasonable while performing some Photoshop and internet dev work, searching, taking no longere of track and viewing a few video clips.

Now, the poors...

Well, it is one terrible in point of fact, but it's something I in finding extremely irritating. The laptop gets VERY scorching when CPU utilization methods 50% and the fan kicks in full-blast at 6,000+ RPM.

I first now noticed the excessive noise when I was once transferring my data and utilitys from the time desktop backup upon preliminary setup. The fan stayed on entire time, CPU temperature was once drawing near 90C while being most effective 30% utilized.

I persisted to experience high heat/fan noise issues right through the week. Sometimes it used to be in the direction of movements net browsing where some of the web pages contained Flash parts.

*There used to be a firmware replace for the MBA that I applied after the ten.7.2 replace and it appeared to mounted the wifi drops.
I've been checking out it for 2 weeks and to this level so just right!

Things I like:

+ Light weight; 2.9 lbs (1.3 kg). You can easily grasp it with one hand - the MBP 13" is now noticeably heavier at 4.5 lbs.

+ Solid construct high quality just like the MBPs. Chassis is rock stable, no keyboard flex, display housing is rigid, and the lid has minor flex.

+ Better ergonomics than the MBPs; the palm relaxation aspects do not dig into your wrists like the facets on the MBPs do.

+ Same great multitouch trackpad and the backlit keyboard makes a return.

+ The display is a pleasure to use with it's high decision (1440 x 900) and semi-gloss finish.
There isn't any glass cover so there might be dramatically less reflections compared to the display of the MBPs

+ 18 second boot ups and 3 2nd shut downs. Resumes from sleep inside 3 seconds.

+ The two USB 2.0 ports are on reverse aspects of the laptop (less litter than MBP)

+ Speakers are extraordinarily loud; they can replenish a small room.

+ Runs extraordinarily cool and it can be so quiet that you can surprise if the fan is operating at all.
